Down in Ma'alaea, on the way to Lahaina, you will find the Maui Golf and Sports Park.  Our youngest son, Siua (see ew ah), thinks he wants to be a golfer.  We are not sure how we are going to accomplish that for him, since the only member of our family who understands golf lives thousands of miles away.  I guess, since it is Maui, we should be able to figure something out, though.  To start we took him to the Maui Golf and Sports Park for his birthday this year.  It is a fun place with some sporting events the kids can participate in.

He Family - Maui Family Photography - Iao Valley, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii - Maui Portrait Photography - Maui Family Portrait Photography

I have a series of photo shoots planned for my family this year.  I usually try to shedule a couple of shoots a year, so I can capture them as they are growing up.   I enjoy deciding which of our wonderful locations I'll pick for each coming year.  This year, I've chosen Iao Valley, Maluaka Beach and Old Maui High, with a possible shoot at the end of the year at the Lavender Gardens.  I'll count that among my images for next year.  These first images are some of the images that I took at our session at Iao Valley.  I'm still in the process of editing all of them.  Editing my own family images is an on-going process, because I am always using them to test out new techniques on.  I do know that I have some group and individual images that I love, so I've culled them from the group, ran them through my secret sauce and prepared them for grandparents and the photo book, when I get around to it.

I've been working with templetes a lot lately.  I couldn't decide which one of the two I liked below, so I'll just post them both.  Templetes are a great way to showcase all of your family photos in a fun way.  If you book a session with me, I can create some unique ones for your family and include them in your photo package.  Ask me about them when you call to book your photo session.

The Pomale Family joined me at White Rock Beach in Makena for a photo shoot this week.  We had the best time, and we had the best light we could have asked for.  I love, love, love working with local families!!  You can see why when you see these images.  Beautiful!  Beautiful Family!!  Polynesians LOVE looking at pictures.  They love their family members.  They are all one big family of aunties and cousins.  The best things about these islands are the people, the scenery,  and the way they love their families.  Who would not love combining these things with the music, to show the beauty of this place.  I love my job.  I could go on, but I'll use these images to showcase the things that I believe in, the things that I get up and fight for every day.  I love these people and I love when I get to take portraits of them in their home.  If you would like to spend some time with me on the beach of your choice capturing some images that showcase the beauty of this place, give me a call and set up a time for when you will be here visiting us.  I would love to capture images for you to have as a keepsake of your stay here.

Commercial Photography - Maui, Hawaii - Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Sun Solar Project and Kula Farms

Wow, I've been very busy this winter.  I can't believe that it is almost February already.  The time has flown.  I have so many sessions that I want to blog about and haven't had the time to get it done.  I worked on a couple of commercial shoots at the end of last year.  I continue to enjoy this kind of work a lot.  It allows me to be the journalist that I went to school to be.  I get to move around an event and observe.  I get to capture images that reflect on what happened.  I love that kind of work.  I especially love when I can record events for projects that I can get behind and believe.  I think solar energy is important to our country's future.  I want to see more families be able to afford solar energy in Hawaii.  I think it helps us all when companies like the Maui Arts and Cultural Center believe solar energy plays a big part in the future of their company.  Another type of commercial photography involves shooting images that help companies to put their best foot forward to the public.  They have a product and they want those images to reflect the best they have to offer.  One of the those business that I assisted in December was Kula Farms.  My family loves to go to Kula Farms, as you all know.  We love small farming and sustainable agriculture and want to see small farmers succeed.  I grew up on farms in the mainland, and I think the best thing for our future is for more smaller farms to stay in business, get back in business and continue to be allowed to feed our communities.  It is better for our health, better for the environment and better for us as people.

If you come to Maui, you should check out the events that are going on at the MACC.   Many of their events involve local groups, artists and Maui's culture.  I'm sure you can find a concert or event to enjoy during your stay on Maui.

Of course if you are coming to Maui, a trip up to Kula Farms is a must.  If you are staying in a Condo here, as many of you do, you will want to pick up their fresh jams and syrups to try on your breakfast in the morning.  They have fresh produce that you can select for lunches on your lanai also.  You can find directions at the link below.
